Non-Destructive and Minor-Destructive Testing Technologies for Structural Materials

We measure what cannot be seen and reveal the true condition of the material.

What Is Non-Destructive and Minor-Destructive Testing?

Non-destructive and minor-destructive tests are measurement and inspection methods that allow the current condition of structural materials and structural members to be assessed on site, with as little intervention in the structure as possible.

These methods can provide important technical information about material properties, existing deterioration and changes over time.

Why We Test On Site

Design information or the material properties at the time of construction may not be enough on their own to assess a structure reliably.

Materials can change over time due to environmental effects, conditions of use, earthquake effects, aging, and the structure's maintenance and repair history.

For this reason, at SEBİZA we make it our principle to measure and assess, on site wherever possible, the actual properties the structure has today.

The Right Test, the Right Interpretation

The same test method may not be sufficient for every structure and every material.

At SEBİZA, we select the appropriate test methods according to the purpose of the inspection, the type of structure and the properties of the material; we then evaluate the data obtained together and turn it into results that are meaningful from an engineering perspective.

Our aim is not merely to take measurements, but to show what the measurement results mean for the overall condition of the structure.

As Little Intervention as Possible, as Much Information as Possible

When inspecting existing structures, preserving the integrity of the structure is as important as obtaining the right information.

For this reason, we prefer non-destructive and minor-destructive methods wherever possible, aiming to obtain reliable technical information while reducing the intervention in the structural member.

We Turn Measurement into Engineering Knowledge

Interpreting the data obtained from tests correctly is at least as important as the measurement itself.

At SEBİZA, we do not present measurement results merely as numerical values; we evaluate them together with the properties of the structure, the material and the load-bearing system.

Together with our expert engineers and, where needed, our academic consultants, we interpret the results and carry out the technical assessment and reporting processes.

Our Technology in Development: BETONMETRE®

Reliably determining concrete strength in existing structures is one of the important areas of research and practice in structural engineering.

At SEBİZA Teknoloji, by combining our academic knowledge with R&D work, we are developing a drilling-based approach to determining concrete strength on site, together with a test technology designed specifically for this method.

BETONMETRE® is being developed as an original measurement technology for determining concrete strength on site with limited intervention in the structural member.

Development Is Ongoing

Our R&D, field validation and productization work for BETONMETRE® is ongoing. Development continues to turn the technology into a reliable, repeatable system suited to field use and to make it ready for series production.

We see BETONMETRE® as an important example of the next-generation measurement technologies SEBİZA is developing in the field of structural materials.

From Measurement to Decision

We approach the Test → Data → Engineering Analysis → Technical Assessment → Report → Decision Support process as a whole.

In this way, we make non-destructive and minor-destructive testing not just a measurement activity, but part of an engineering process aimed at understanding the current condition of the structure more accurately.
